In 2017, Etax Accountants will give a $10,000 tax-free cash prize to one smart and creative Etax.com.au user.
To enter the Etax 2017 competition…
- First, complete and sign your 2017 “Fast” tax return at Etax.com.au before 31 October 2017.
- On the next page after you sign your return, you can find the contest entry form.
- The contest entry form works like this: You answer a skill-testing question about the average annual tax refund received by female Etax.com.au users in 2016, plus answer two short questions about your insights into how the online tax return form can be improved. Then submit your entry.
Entries will be carefully judged, looking for creativity and insights that help us improve the online tax return to help lots of taxpayers as well as for meeting the contest Terms and Conditions.
Entries are valid only for 2017 Etax “Fast” or “Assist” tax returns lodged by 31 October 2017 via the tax agent services provided by Etax Accountants at Etax.com.au.
ETAX WINNERS FROM PREVIOUS YEARS:
2016 Etax $10,000 Cash Prize Competition – Overall Winner
Spencer did very well on the numerical question.
And above all, he made a really sharp-minded suggestion about how to improve the way Etax clients can interact with their accountants.
Already, we’ve got our Brisbane-based design and IT teams getting to work. They’ll make sure Spencer’s suggestion becomes part of a good new tool for Etax users in 2017.
I am going to spend Christmas with family on the Gold Coast so I would say, everyone’s Christmas gifts just got upgraded :D
Spencer – we hope your family is reading this!
2015 Etax $10,000 Cash Prize Competition – Overall Winner
Daisy Bridgwood from Claremont, Western Australia
Thank you to everyone who entered our 2015 Etax Accountants competition!
To select our winner, we first identified the closest 2015 entries to this year’s average tax refund amount of $1624.56. Then, we had to choose the entry that best addressed the question “What’s a good way we could make a hard section of the return easier for you?”
We’re excited to announce that Daisy Bridgwood from WA was selected by our panel of judges to win $10,000! Daisy made a great, unique and well thought-out suggestion about including visual examples on the return.
Done: Now there are example documents inside the help content for the 2016 tax return!
2015 Bonus Prize
With so many awesome entries, our judges felt we should award a runner up prize as well!
2015 Runner Up – $1,000 prize winner: Zenon Zoltaszek from NSW
Zenon suggested we add more help to tricky sections of the return. We’re on the job and in 2016 will have improved help right throughout the return.
2014 Etax $10,000 Cash Prize Competition – Overall Winner
Catherine Paterson from Gladesville, New South Wales
Catherine ticked all the boxes of the contest guidelines with a creative, clever entry. Her suggestion related to a mobile app; more than a thousand people suggested a mobile app but Catherine’s entry covered all the bases in the most creative and insightful way.
So did we do it? YES! The Etax mobile app is live and running. It lets you snap receipts and save them to your Etax return. It lets you do your whole tax return right on mobile. And you can even check messages from your Etax accountant.
See more about the Etax app here.
In 2014 our judges insisted that we offer some add-on prizes for off-the-wall, creative comments and suggestions we received from Etax.com.au users – these are a few of the ideas that our judges really loved.
Most Creative Idea
$250 prize winner: Sinead Mcanallen
“Involve Dragon Slaying as an occupation.”
Etax and Animals
$250 prize winner: Frances Finlayson
“Teach my cat how to do a better filing job, She’s halfway there as you will see from the photos I send you.”
(There are a lot of cat lovers in the Etax universe: We received dozens of feline contest entries including “Etax.com.au needs more kitties” and “more LOL cats” and “a free cat with every return.”)
