What’s new on the Etax 2018 tax return?
We asked for taxpayers’ feedback and suggestions, then we got straight to work on the 2018 tax return. Here are some past suggestions from Etax users that are ready now:
“Make it even easier to attach files to my return”
Working on it! Attachments will work better and faster in 2018.
The Etax mobile app makes lodging your tax return easier than ever before. Plus you can use your phone to snap and save tax receipts, PAYG and other documents right onto your tax return. For many users, the app will help create a bigger tax refund, by helping you to save and remember all those tax-deductible receipts.

“Give me more help and tips based on my job”
No problem.
First, carefully select your occupation in the “salary and wages” section. Now your tax return will show you popular tax deduction items used by people with the same type of job as you! This helps you remember valuable claims that can boost your refund! Job-based deduction tips will be improved for 2018.
“Show me what I selected last year”
Okay.
Etax will show you last year’s deduction selections, saving you time and helping avoid missed deductions (for returning Etax clients). Make sure you re-calculate your claims from last year and you can send us a quick message if you’re not sure.
“I can’t find this section” or “Where does this go?”
A common problem, solved!
Down at the very bottom of your Etax return, there’s a new section called “Any other questions”. You can add anything here — the bits you can’t find, any leftovers, numbers from a receipt, a question for an accountant to answer, anything!
The Etax support team will take it from there.
